“High gas prices have driven a farmer in Warren County, Tennessee to hitch a tractor rake to a pair of mules to gather hay from their fields, according to AP. But before you dismiss this as ridiculous….
“The price of a gallon of regular gas rose 4.4 cents overnight to a record average of $3.875, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Diesel prices in the U.S. rose 5.9 cents to a record national average of $4.649 Friday.
“T.R. Raymond has concluded that the mules can be fed cheaper than fuel can be purchased to run the tractor. The mules, named Dolly and Molly, are slower but much more personable than the tractor.
“Son Danny Raymond trained the mules and also modified the tractor rake so the mules could pull it.”
